Degrees and Certifications:
Kristie Stone
I attended Kadoka Elementary and graduated from Kadoka High School. I graduated from Black Hills State University with a bachelor’s degree, double major in Applied Psychology & Human Services with a minor in Sociology. I worked for 21 years with Youth & Family Services as a Home Visitor for Rural Head Start. I provided preschool education to families in Jackson and Haakon Counties.
I began working for Kadoka Area School District in the Fall of 2013 teaching Elementary Guidance. I travel to all the schools in our district and teach lessons in all grades Kindergarten-8th in outlying schools and Junior Kindergarten-5th in Kadoka. The educational standards for Health and Counseling I follow include a wide variety of topics! In 2018 I obtained my alternative teaching certificate in K-12 Comprehensive School Health. I also meet with students one-on-one as well as some students in small groups. If you hear your child talking about Miss Kristie, that would be me! If you ever have any questions, concerns or want to share information about your child with me, just let me know. You will see me most days greeting children at the front door as they arrive at school.
My husband also works at the school as a Custodian. We have 3 children, one who attends school at Western Dakota Technical College, one who is working on her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health at SDSU, and one who graduated from BHSU and is currently living in Rapid City working on prerequisites to get into a PhD program for Occupational Therapy at USD. We are empty nesters this year and not liking it very much!
