  • Scholarships Due in February:

    American Indian Services--www.americanindianservices.org--Amount varies.  Requires enrollment in a university, college, junior college or technical school; 1/4 Northern-Native American Indian blood and has a minimum 2.25 GPA.--Due Feb. 1.

    Water conservation program scholarship application--You must be a child of a member of WR/LJ Rural Water or enrolled in one of the seven service area school districts and will be eligible for graduation this spring. Application in Susan's office.--Due Feb. 15

    South Dakota School of Mines and Technology--Tiospaye in Science & Engineering Program--www.tiospaye.sdsmt.edu--This is a support program to increase the number of American Indians graduating with BS degrees in mathematics, science and engineering.  The five program support components are financial, academic, professional, cultural and social.  Due Feb 3

    Yankton College Scholarships--www.yanktoncollege.org--Several $1,000 scholarships open to graduating seniors who have a relative that attended or worked at Yankton College, or a family friend, teacher or pastor with a connection to Yankton College may sponsor the applicant. Must have an ACT of 21 or higher, at least a 3.5 GPA, a transcript and two letters of recommendation.  Due Feb 26

    Alzheimer's Foundation of America--alzfdn.org--Essay contest regarding how Alzheimer's has affected your life and what you have learned in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease.  Due Feb 15

    Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship Program--www.bigfuture.collegeboard.org--Program for Native American high school students who are planning to earn a degree in agriculture or natural resources or a related field. Pick up application form in Susan's office--Due Feb 27.

    Annis I. Fowler/Kaden Scholarship--A 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, First-time entering freshman at BHSU, DSU, NSU, or USD, Intent to major in Elementary Education.--Due Feb 26

    SD High School Coaches Association Scholarships (Student Trainer/Manager Scholarship, Dave Prohl Memorial Scholarship, Coaches Against Cancer Scholarship)--www.sdhsca.k12.sd.us--Due Feb 10

    National Interscholastic Athletic Administration Scholarship--www.niaaa.org--participate in two sports for a minimum of two years, B+ average, 24 ACT--Due Feb 28

    National Youth Science Camp--http://apply.nysc.org--Pierre, SD-Two high school seniors will receive a full scholarship to exchange ideas with scientists and other professionals from the academic and corporate worlds.  The nearly month-long experience includes lectures and hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the nation; overnight camping trips into the Monogahela National Forest; and a visit to Washington D.C.  The selected delegates must not only demonstrate academic achievement in science, but also show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership.--Due Feb. 28th

    West Central Electric Cooperative Scholarship Program--The applicant must be an U.S. citizen and the natural or adopted child of a member of West Central Electric Cooperative.  The applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is enrolled or planning to enroll in full-time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, or university.  One half of the scholarship moneys will be given to students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited vocational/technical school.     Black Hills Federal Credit Union Scholarship--www.bhfcu.com--Graduating High School Senior, 19 years of age or younger.  A member of the VIBZ! Teen Club at Black Hills Federal Credit Union.  Planning to attend an accredited vocational school, technical school, college, or university.--Due March 4.

    Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship--Dependent children of member-system consumers and dependent children of member-cooperative employees are eligible.  Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of education and career goals, and an outside appraisal.  Application can be picked up in Susan's office.--Due. Feb. 22.

    Society of Exploration Geophysicists Scholarship (SEG)--www.seg.org--63 awards at $750 up to $3000 per year, many are renewable.  Students must be a high school senior (3.0+ GPA) and plan to enter college in the field of geophysics--Due March 1st.

    National Society of Professional Engineers--www.nspe.org--160 awards from $500 to full tuition scholarships, renewable, to specific schools listed in the NSPE scholarship application.  Students must be in upper 25% of class, have a 3.0 GPA, have SAT of 500v, 600m minimum, be interested in attending an ABET accredited school.--Due March 1

    American Legion Auxiliary Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship--Candidates for this award shall be daughters, stepdaughters, sons, stepsons, grandsons, step-grandsons, granddaughters, step-granddaughters, great-granddaughters, step-great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, step-great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion. Due March 1

    SDABA Scholarship (SD Agri-Business)--www.sdaba.org--Seniors attending SD college or technical institute majoring in agriculture-related field.  Must be customer, employee, or family member of a business belonging to the SD Agri-Business Association (SDABA)--Due March 1

    South Dakota Education Association/NEA Ramia Boersma Memorial Scholarship--www.SDEA.org--The SDEA/NEA awards scholarships to outstanding students who are planning on entering the teaching profession.  The Association may annually award up to three $750 scholarships for each academic year.--More information in Susan's Office--Due Feb 15.
